A good brief gives a specialist search direction. It explains the work, the environment and the difference the right person will make.
Start with the work
Describe the project, the systems involved and the point at which the new person joins. A job title alone rarely gives enough context.
Separate essential from useful
Be clear about what someone must already know and what a capable person can learn. This keeps a search ambitious and realistic.
Explain the human context
Share how decisions are made, who the person works with and what success looks like in the first stage of the role.
